Ive owned yamaha's the last 4 years and had zero problems with any of my sleds.I tried to save a few bucks this year and i sold my 04 viper s and picked up a 99 mach z for 1800.00.Ive been trying to get it running right for three weeks and took it into a dealer to get it running. After paying 400.00 i went to canada this past weekend and rode my mach for the first time.I Had it doing about 120 mph on a few lakes and i was real happy with it.....then all the sudden BANG!!! Broken aluminum and antifreeze everywhere. The rod broke and just about cut the crank case in half.Brought back some old memories of my 98' mach z.Im currently parting it out and plan on going back to yamaha and staying there,i dont need this crap!!Looking for a low mile 01-02 srx or 04 viper s.Another lesson learned the hard way!!

that sucks/ I like those mach z's too. what made you go back in years? and how were you trying to save $$$? were you still paying on the viper? sorry to hear about your luck! hopefully you can get another viper s, they are pretty sweet sleds!
Sorry to hear about your misshap. I heard Ski-doo's like to blow up. Get back on a Viper. I love mine and wouldn't change, Unless I find a good deal on an Apex.

Unless I can pick up an older phazer or snoscoot...Skidoos 380's are great for the kids and wife...other than that I'm not diverting from the Blue Belt...As my avatar displays a GSX that I wanted to by...I ended up picking up a cheaper viper... wayyyy.. cheap..turns out it was sitting on the bottom of a lake cheap..and go figure... 3 years later...its still running great (knock on wood)...Glad to see yer back...

You had a 98 mach z that blew up and still took a chance on a 99 ! I wish i could have talked to you before you bought the 99. I too had a 96 f3 no problems and then bought a 98 mach 1. Had two cranks go one at 2000 km the other at 5500 km . The first one was under warranty. I did alot of research back then and found that years from 98 to 2002 on the ck3' had crank issues, The 98's being the worse. This was for all 700's and 800's. Although the 98 mach 1 went like hell and was a strond runner i would never buy any ck3 chassis ever again.
I cant beleive how many mach 1's and z's have conecting rods, cranks that have been blown up on these machines. I look at the local traders and i dont think ive seen one 98 too 2002 mach z or mach 1 f800 or 700 that hasnt had the cranks done.
Before my viper i went to a 2000 xc 700 and had nothing done until 10000 miles.

blueblooded I have a pair of yammie pants for you!! LOL Sorry to hear you are coming back the hard way. Interested in an 05 rx with some real goodies on it?
You will probably get your $$ back in parts sale on ebay.
lots of work though, I would guess.
Viper S are holding there value from what I've seen...most around $4000.00
good luck.
