I just got a yamaha torque limiter but install instructions were missing. If anyone has a copy of the instructions, i would really appreciate it if a copy of the diagrams could be sent to me or posted in the thread

I picked up the dog bone Yamaha versoin and am sorta hesitant to put it in...just kinda frightened i won't get humpty back together again...But the only instructions I got was clutch off set...But here's a link to some info I"ve had for years...

As for the need for a torque limitor?..apparently its a $40 install that Yamaha should've added...features include aligning clutches for optimal performace...less chances of motor mounts breaking under high torque(pipes or clutching)...a little more snap to everything..and overall rider confidence...Downfalls I've heard are possible more vibrations and belt breakage due to improper alignment...
The Viper apparently never included em because under certain power the clutches actually realign..and disalign when stopped...kinda aids to a smoother transition...or so I've heard...
Hey Viperino..did you get the clutch offset info?...I've got an ER and noticed its different from the None ER setup...I picked up one of those clutch tools..but unsure if its useless for me...?

the yamaha dealer i bought it from couldnt tell me how to do it either and i am still waiting for them to get back to me as apparently they are waiting for instruction themselves from yamaha....

ya looks like the offset is 20mm for the ER and 15mm for the non. i'm not sure how that tool sits in the primary for the alignment but maybe you could improvise a little and add 5mm to the offset?

and forgot to mention, u have to take the secondary off, but the primary stays on. if u search forum for 'sled pro clutch alignment tool' u will see some pics.

You just set it flush to the ring gear as to the edge of the sheave, like I did...

I just picked one up on e-bay and installed it on the weekend. I took the clutches off airbox, and had the manifold and pipe off cause i was adjusting the valves anyway. No instructions but figured it out, put alittle locktite on the bolts just incase. I noticed a difference in the acceleration for sure. And hopefully no more broken motor mount bolts.

Thanks guys...And thanks for the picts Mr."the Blues"...Maybe I might have enough time before my ride to "get er done"...I always wondered what those 3 shaft thingies where...I bought the "sled pro" used...I knew somebody would steer me inthe right direction..as for the offset between both versions ER and non ER...I'll dabble and see the outcome...GO LEAFS GO...

cheers ya'll

is tit even necessary if you leave the other mounts tight. or do you have to change the settings now.
You have to loosen them all, you will need a 36" pry bar to move the engine around...Look I live in east end Ottawa...If you can we can hook up and go over it...leaving for a trip Sat till Thurs...
