Anyone ever hear about trimming (shortening) the skidplate back away from the front heat exchanger? Someone told me, that if there is a gap between the skidplate and the bulkhead, snow will damn up causing an air pocket. The skidplate was warped and now there's a gap approximately 1/2"; therefore it doesn't fit flush with the bulkhead. The air pocket is a result in the melting of snow between the exchanger and the snow damming/build up that's not cleaning out.

That's pretty funny, I tried trimming my skid plate also, thinking that ice building up in front of the heat exchanger was making my sled overheat, well........it still overheated, I installed a rear heat exchanger for my 2002 viper and problem solved, I also installed a opticool head gasket. AP

I never had the issue like some did, but for $50.00 at the time, the rear exchanger seemed like a good idea and I jumped on it.
