i have an 02 viper er. went riding yesterday and everything was going fine, until my highbeams stopped working. the hand/thumbwarmers, dash and low beams all work fine. when i click the high/low beam switch the blue high beam light doesnt come on the dash either. when i start the sled the tach goes up and then back down, and the orange "!" light is on like it usually is, then it goes out, and comes back on for a second or so, i dont know if it always did that or if its a code or something. there was some pretty rough sections of the trail so ill be going out and checking for something that could have shook loose or came unconnected. if anybody has any other ideas on what went wrong i would appreciate the help.

My orange "!" light does the same thing on start up. I just assumed it was something all vipers did. Not sure 'bout your high beam though, sorry.

Take your handle bar pad off and unplug the the connector that has the blue/white wire and the light green wire going to the dimmer switch. Get a multimeter and check continuity through the switch you should have continuity on the high position and then push the dimmer switch. you then should not have continuity. If nothing changes when you push the button...you have a bad switch. You check continuity by putting your multimeter to ohm setting. Put one of your leads on the bl/wh wire, the other lead on your green wire.A zero reading means you have continuity.I f the switch checks out post back and we'll move on to the headlight relay.

well i dont have a multimeter yet, but just went out and tore off the handlbar cover, and the blue/white wire is cut in half, with bare wire sticking out of the plastic on both sides, must have rubbed on something. ill pick up some butt connectors tonight and that should fix it i hope. ill check back in once i do that.
Man , doncha wish all electrical probs ended like that????
