oil pump ?

rode sled this weekend was running good no plug fouling top end was there, but was useing alot of oil , light would come on after about 70-75 miles would take like 3 quarts. could pump need adjusting and if so how ? sled has 4800 miles on it and runs like a top so i dont think it is too much.
