I know this has been beat before but i`m putting a new 1 1/4 track on my srx and wanted some opinions here....2 choices...a predator or ripsaw? I ride trails but also ride alot off trail so want the best track for my needs. Just want some ideas from you guys that have run these 2 tracks.

ive had both on my sled but the predator was only 1". both hooked up great on hard packed, both sucked in the fluffy stuff.

Ive got a 1.25" Ripsaw on my XC and I love the hookup. It hooks up great on hardpack and is still pretty good in powder.
The Ripsaw is slightly better on hardpack, the Predator is slightly better in powder.
IMO, the Ripsaw is the better track because the "fingers" dig into hardpack but it still has the half-circle lugs in the middle that hook up in the powder.
In comparison, the Predator has the solid paddles on the outside but really doesnt have much in the middle of the track.
The only real complaint I have about my Ripsaw is that it howls pretty bad at 30-50 mph (which is the speed I ride at most of the time).

I never have run a preditor but I was out with my new ripsaw yesterday and I love it!!!!!!!!It will make you lose a little top end but it makes up for it in the lateral grip and it seems to work great in the deep stuff. Are you going to stud it????

No i`m not going to stud it..have a studded track now and i`m not a fan of them. I don`t ride on any lakes here in ny so to me it just adds alot of weight i dont want. Had 1 1/4 tracks on my last few sleds and love them but always used a ski-doo camo track that was only available through ski-doo. They no longer offer that track so will go with a ripsaw or predator instead.
On my 03 Viper I went from the 1" cone lug to a 1-1/4 " X 136 Ripsaw .
Vary impressive piece of rubber .

NYsledneck, I strongly suggest you stud your new track. When I first got my Ripsaw I didnt plan on studding it either, but lemmie tell you, you NEED studs for the icy corners and icy hills.
Im going to put 96 studs down the middle of my Ripsaw this summer and I think that will make the ultimate setup. Its got the fingers for the hardpack, half circles for the powder and the studs for the ice.
I dont ride the lake much either, but you really have to tiptoe around the corners if you dont have studs.
If I had it to do over again, I think Id probably go with an Ice Ripper (prestudded Ripsaw).

Get the Predator!!!!!!
I have one on my SRX. I love it! Great on the trails and fluff. As for the ripsaw. It does well on hard packed trails. It sucks in the fluff. I know because I have one on my Attak. The ripsaw will not hold up to long high speed runs. They have been delaminating. Also the clips like to fall off.Do a search on it in the 4-stroke side. i am on my second ripsaw. The first one all the clips fell off. Yami replaced that on. Thanks Yamaha. The second one will not stop streching. I am almost out of adjustment. I only have 300 miles on the one. My next track after this comming TY ride will be a 6-pitch Predator

I went with the 1.25 Predator on both my my sleds after my Ripsaw started falling apart on the Apex after 500 miles, so I got a Predator put on that under warranty and when I put a new Track on the Viper I went with the Predator on that to. The track is a real good track off trail compared to the ripsaw, and it performs about the same on the trail in my opinion

Thanx guys for your opinions on this. I`m gonna order a predator from cb performance here real quick. I was leaning to that track and some of the replies reassured me i`m making the right choice.

I see you are from upstate NY I also ride in upstate NY and the Rip Saw on my 2004 Viper S started to fall apart after only 600 miles of groomed trail riding in the Adirondacks. I like the track but in my opinion I falls apart way to easy. I am missing fingers on several lugs and this year with the icey trails I am afraid it will only get worse.
