Hey guys,
I just bought 144 Woodys Stainless Steel 60 1.075" studs that came with all single backers. I was thinking of only using 96 down the middle because I love the "V" pattern. I don't like the idea of putting any studs on the sides of the track, so will 96 in the middle be okay? I'd just sell off the other 48 studs and backers I guess. Sled is a bone stock 03 Viper. I've looked at stud patterns, and I can't find any that use 144 in the middle. What about a 120 pattern?
Looking for some coments/suggestions/experiences.
Just by the way, I'm a pretty conservative driver. I don't pin it off the line or anything like that and I won't be spinning the track on pavement.

I ave 144 down the middle, I just used a template and then added where I thought they would work the best. I have a srx 700, The pattern seems to work well.

if u ad one to each row ull have 144 or 2 to ever other. there is also the double diger pattern. 4 then 2 then 4 then 2 alteranting where they are on the track. usaly taht one u use dobble backers but ive seen them with singles real clsoe to each otehr in sets of 2

4-2-4-2 pattern works, 3-3-3-3 works as well

yup i used the 4-2 pattern on my rx1 all down the middle and it worked well. buy a template it makes it much quicker.

yes but you don't want them all lining up perfectly like that. with that setup you have 4 scratch lines (if you spun the track on a surface only 4 lines would be made) so you want to offset as many as you can in a pattern so that you get more scratch lines, and thus more studs grabbing pavement at one time. get what i mean?

just add another 48 and go 192, right down the middle

I have 144 down the middle on my 03 Viper, get a template and it will go much faster and easier. -Ed

192 is overkill on a STOCK Viper, I wouldnt go anymore than 144 with a stocker. If I stud my PIPED Viper, 144 will still be my MAX. cause it just adding rotating weight. And when off trail riding it doesnt do nothing for ya besides eat HP. I'm not a big ice rider, but if I was I'd only run 192 on a PIPED Viper.
