We have two 97 600 Vmaxes in our group and both bog down when riding in deep powder. They both loose power quickly. Could it be the exhaust getting plugged with snow? Anybody have this problem and have a fix? Thanks

My '97 600 has a helix from Maxx Perf. on it so I can't say how much the stock 47 degree helix is going to perform but mine is wound to 60 degrees right now and it is great in powder. I did have one issue with the RPM's after I did back to back tail plants after catching some air. The rev's got too high and it shifted then bogged when I landed the second time but I'm not going to complain since I was airborne and going up hill.
If your at 60 degrees now it is pretty simple to wind the secondary to 70 and give it a try. Next try 80. What you gain one way you will loose another. Like top end. There is a set of numbers on the helix and the secondary. Add the 2 numbers and multiply by 10 to get the degrees. Also take a look at the belts. If they are worn out (Too narrow) it will also cause odd shifting.

The cheapest way to see if your exhaust is getting plugged is duct tape over the under hood intake which is located between the fresh air intake and the headlight.
