I have read many postings on this issue.
My Viper has been harder on fuel and slower since the begining of the season.
It's a 2003 Viper ER. My battery went dead the other day. I unpluged the battery started te machine and put the tester to it. All I was getting was 8 to 9 volts. I even noticed the RPM gauge keeps resetting itself since there isn't enough power being supplied.
I changed many parts
- Stater plate
- Voltage regulator (on the right side behind battery)
- CDI unit
Still pushing same voltage 8 to 9 only.
Do you think a wire is causing this?
My next step is to change the wiring harness, I don see what else?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

ok, first off you need a good battery in a viper ER to run the guage unit, its the way the er is wired versus the std vipers. before we go any further with this, install a new battery in the sled and restart and check running condition.

I will be picking up a new battery tonight. I recharged the old one but I will toss it.
When the battery is unpluged should the voltage be higher or it needs to be hooked up in order for everything to work properly.
Thanks
