can't get over 7500 rpm's

Hi I have a 98 700srx with 01 700srx motor with 98 stater with 01 carb's in it run's good on low end. Once you get over 1/2 throttle it has no response like it floods it out. It will only turn 7500 rpm tryed differn't wieght's still won't reve out. Missing plate in air box.Any one have any ideas? Thank's Dan.

Do you have your power valves properly adjusted?

Im not for sure, I tryed to turn down the idle below 900 but the motor dies.

Could it be that the '98 electronics are limiting the RPM of the motor somehow since the '98 motor is different than the '01 motor? Just shooting in the dark here, where are MrViper700 and Betheviper when we need them? LOL
