At 119 mph @8400-8450 rpm I get a black stripe around the top of my primary. Is this because I am out of gear or not enough tip weight (side pressure on top end ) The black mark is about 1/4" from the top of the sheave.

by gearing up you mean run a higher ratio or a lower ratio?
If your running 22 top gear go to a 23 or if your running a 38 bottom gear go to a 37 or 36.
