I want to put a set of Aaen pipes on a 05 viper - Aaen tech said I will need a head or do head work to make them work with the DCS or remove the DCS. (For riding at lower elevation - 1200 to 2500 ft) The only aftermarket head I can find is from MPI and they won't ship to Canada unless the order is $1000 or more. Is their any other suppliers in Canada or the States that will ship to Canada.

I thought Aaen pipes would be the best ones to buy because they didn't need the modded head. All I was told was you need a rear heat exchanger and obviosly re-jet and you had yourself a 140hp piped Viper . I was leaning on buying aaen's because they would be the easiest to install and tune but maybe I have been mis-lead. Does the guy at aaen think you mean another sled since Vipers were only built to 2004 as far as I know?

It is an 05 Viper Mountain - he said I would need the head to work at my elevation and ridng - if I was higher he said it would probably not be an issue. 3 piped vipers around here now - Aaens, SLP, and Hauck(?) - Aaens seem to work good but its on a pre DCS sled, SLP's are on a DCS sled but he has said he is going to get a head, Hauck(?) are on a DCS sled but are hard on fuel compared to the others. Another guy has a set of Aaens for sale - only ran for a short time but could not get DCS light to go out.

Aaen pipes on pre DCS Viper
dilligaf52 do you know the dude with the Aaen piped pre DCS Viper?
Is it a Mountain Viper? what setup did he have to do to get the sled working best after he put the Aaen pipes on it?
I have a set in my garage and I'm about to put them on my 2003 Mountain Viper with ATTAC & Boysen dual stage reeds as soon as I can figure out how to plug in the 2001 SRX CDI box.
Any help would be appreciated.

It is 121 - he just did what the tech guy at Aaens told him and it worked good.

Doing the head mod or aftermarket head is best for piping any Viper to even the compression ratio out. The pto is a bit low and the other two are a bit high in stock form. I ran a Speedwerx head on mine when it was piped. It worked good. The first Hauck pipes were actually Simons CPR pipes. The ones he sells now are AAENs. Probably the best aftermarket heads are Mega Power. Talk with Ulmer Racing(srxspec) if you want some good info on doing this pipe setup. I believe he may have Mega Power heads available too.

My 03 MTn Viper worked really well with aaens pipes UNTILL i buggerd up my Veri-flow setting. melted pipe side. Rod bearing on the small end buggered. Funny thing to my dealer is sending my crank out to get welded. Just as soon i find a new con rod.
Go ten points on the jetting.
Let me know what head your going with i need on too.
