srx electrical problem HELP!!

i can start my sled up and every thing works speedo,tach everything but when i turn the high beam on every thing goes haywire tach goes to 0 all lights go out. i have changed the bulb, chased all the wireing and i cant seem to find the problem. any one have this trouble with a 98 srx 700 ?????

any info would be nice

REMOVE the harness from under the engine and repair the worn thru wires.

When I first got my 98 srx it was having wiring problems also.
I had wires rubbed through above the left footwell where the harness plugs in. It was arcing bad. I can't remember, but I think I had some wires rubbed through underneath also. Pull out the harness and go through it like mv said. After you find the rubs, tape it up good and put that plastic loom over it to protect it some more.

I also had this prob with my 99 srx.i found bad wires in the steering colum.right where the wires go from the bars down the neck and bend through the cowel..the wires were rubing the handle bar stem right at the riser ..

my 01 had worn through wires under the engine.

I went thru my wire under the engine and from instrument panel down to where the 2 connectors are just ahead of the clutch.Took bar pad off and checked there also.Nothing was found and stgill my Tach does not work ,but gas gauge and light works.Is there another way I can figure this out.Tried 2 Tachs already.
