big bore reliability

set up correctly with the stock pipes they are just as releable as stock.Depending on who builds them

big bore

I have been running a 780 big bore with bender big pipes for around 3000 miles. It has been super reliable not even a fouled plug. Has awsome torque and plenty of speed. The only down side with the Bender pipes is it starts harder when cold than with stock pipes. I believe the stock pipes might create more back pressure making it start with less pulls cold. Once warmed up it will start first pull all the time with either pipe.

bender pipes

I have been clutching it for the same as stock at 8500 rpm with a slight over run at top end.

I have/had 800 and 780 Hauck kit and i have had always some issues. But most of them have been my own faults.
With trail porting and mild compression they are fine but when you take all out of them... There is major problems.

big bore

I am running a Mega Power big bore. I am running 47.5 pilots, needles raised 1 clip, anywheres from 150 to 155 mains. I just had my carbs bored to 35mm , but haven't got the set up for them yet. I also am running the mega power heads with trail domes. Heating has never been an issue. Since owning this sled new I have never seen the temp light flash once.

Not quite as reliable as stock. Remember the Yamaha Powder forged piston is about as good as it gets. Once you go Wiseco 780 I'm betting you never get more than 2 K out of a set of pistons again. I'm at 7400 miles and 5000K or so big bore miles. I havnt seized a piston since big bore but the pistons look hammered every 2 K. Are you running a Viper or SRX? --mac--

Big Bore 780

Deeker as I read your post again I see you have a 2002 SRX. My advise is not to go 780 but stay with the stock SRX piston. Find the best porting expert you can find and find maximum HP thru porting, heads, compression, and maybe bored carbs. This should achieve 160-162 and be happy with that. Once you go Wiseco 780 You will not be happy because they don't hold up. Another key question is are you a trail rider depending on trail gas or can you bring and blend your own fuel that you can depend upon. Fuel means everything in these Mod motors?
