Can't get top rpms only 8000

I have a 98 msrx 700 this sled has a hauck #4 clutch kit at 100 wrap....bender cold air kit and gutted box.....jetted up 4 sizes....is it worth the wieght loss power gain to go to a bender or hauck can???? i have the hauck can right now and was wondering if you really gain power switching to a can??? is there any rpm loss when going to a can???? i have a stock can for this sled should i put it on and see where the rpms are...i can hit 8100 to 8200 right now which seems a little low to me.....it doesnt matter where i set the sec it still runs the same....according to hauck with the kit should be 8300-8400 with sec at 70 degrees ....any advice info would be great

If you want a sled with less top end; less hp over all & real noisy; keep the can.For rpm loss check to see if any powervalves have pulled thru or do a compression test.

I have just checked all powervalves.....replaced broken cable set them all up according to yammy manual....checked comp and its runnin 125 across all 3.....where should my sec be set at??? as for wieght loss any diffenece between stock and a can.....is there any differnece between a bender or hauck cans other then noise....

yamys seem to love the stock can unless they are wildly ported/piped. the rpm loss you are seeing is the can.

hey i tried the stock can this wkend....seems to be no improvement over the race can just seems a little more snappy.....still wont rev over 8000-8100.....any ideas what i should check or look for.....both clutches rebuilt....set belt tension....did comp check all 125 psi....cleaned and set power valves....new belt....sec set a 70 wrap doesnt make a difference if its set at 100 wrap still same rpms....what should i look for next??? sled has www primary spring silver secondary....have to check to see what wieghts are in it....kit came from hauck race/lake kit....

100 wrap with a silver is way too much...should not be more then 60 ever. Primary spring might be partially sacked out & for $20 you might replace that. If that don,t work you gotta lighten up the primary or try a g-w-g primary spring.

i think its got the 8bu-00 wieghts in it....the ones that came with the hauck kit....how much affect will not being able to get the top rpms be??? i will look this wkend and see whats in it for wieghts and post them.....

I know this is no real help to you but I just put a MBRP Race can on my 98 SRX 600 (mostly stock) and it seems to me that it raised the revs 100 rpm (over stock can) give or take. but WOW one of the best sounding cans I have ever heard, LOUD LOUD LOUD

Ok i got my setup all figured out .....i have the 8bu-00 wieghts, www primary spring.....silver sec spring....set at 60 degrees...hauck i helix which i believe is a 47-41....so now where do i go with this setup revs to 8000 tops....sled pulls hard through the whole rpm range just not to the top rpms....i have a bigger wieght in the tip and a little smaller one in the mid do i change wieghts or change rivets???? sled is geared down to top out about 100 mph and i have 1.5 x 136 track so im not looking for a huge top end just pull like crazy to get there....

need some more help

ok, i took turks recomendations and put a lighter wieght in the tip of my 8bu 00s....ran sled still only 8000......tried to set sec at 60 degrees wrap.....ran sled again still same thing....tried removing wieght in heel still same thing...any other ideas or things i can try.....sled pulls hard to 8000 but doesnt seem to pull any higher rpms....im kinda stumped as to what to do next as to taking it to the dealer....dealer said to try 80 wrap with silver spring so im gonna try that tomorrow and see what happens....if anybody could help or give some ideas as to whats going on here would be great....

I would simply replace the primary spring, its too low of a shift force with 8bu-00 weights, throw in a yellow/white/yellow, or a green /white /green spring with 4.5 rivet in tip of weight, empty middle hole with y/w/y, with the grn/w/grn you can most likely use a .8 alum in first hole, your helix is ok with green spring at 70-80.

what wieght is the yammy part number 90269-06006???? thats what the dealer gave for me to try its a steel rivet with a hole in the middle....
