The clicking sound sounds like it's coming from the area of the drivers - it's clearly audible riding even at 10 mph around the yard with no helmet.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I should look for the problem? Could it be a bearing on the drive axle?

Sled has 4800 miles on it.

Thanks for your help!

hows your belt, a flat spot in your belt well make some strange clunking noise and have you looking everywhere for it.

Sounds like an easy place to start, but it's pretty loud and more plastic on metal sounding.

thanks, xs

could be the track hitting the snubbers on the front of the rails. Or it could be a new track rubbing the heat exchanger protectors. Or maybe an idler wheel gone bad. Or it could be the speedo side driveshaft bearing.

You know. I just pulled the tunnel protectors out of it so it was studded, I never looked to see if it had the exchanger protectors in there .... another good suggestion.

I was wonderig about the rail snubbers, but it doesn't seem like that is it.

Speedo D/S bearing - I hope not!!

Thank you!

I have the same problem with my viper right now...will keep posted if I find anything. I can feel mine on my left foot when ever it clunks. Only at low speeds also.

Update - never found anything and it still makes that sound! I'm going to try the belt this weekend.

don't think it's the recoil - I'll try the belt first. Could be the eclip in your recoil popped off and is getting thrown around in there - happened on my 2000 Formula Deluxe 700 - not cheap to fix the stator and flywheel.

My wife just got a viper last week and it had a clicking sound comeing from the left hand side .I changed the belt and no more clicking.Iam guessing its your belt

Did you put on new hifaxes...if not, then the ones in your photo are too short & they are catching the window clips as it goes around the rear axle...or if you installed new hifaxes, then you did not trim them on enough of an angle...also if you used the lower location holes in the front m10 torque arm brackets, that would put the front of the skid up to the tunnel too much, take a mirror & stick it up by the front axle & you'll see track rub...not visible from the rear...cheers & season greetings...

My srx does this too, Don't know what it is, ive had it apart numerous times with no luck finding anything. Ive had my flywheel off, checked the bearings on all the shafts, went through the chaincase several times, and i just do not know. I know my track rubs on my front protectors, so it could be from that, ive put some miles on it and its not getting any better or worst, so im going to keep riding it.

Last Season A Buddys Sled Did The Same It Was A Cat But We Changed The Belt And No More Noise! Good Luck

Also check your dipstick, the c-clip fell of the dipstick magnet & it was tumbling in the chaincase on my rx1 & viper twice...or if you put the dipstick in with a bent shaft...it will rub on the chain...

I know this post is from 2 years ago but did anybody ever find out what the fix was for this? Mine is doing the same thing.
