I have a 2001 SRX 700. Was playing around with some family and friends on Big Moose Lake in New York last weekend. Sled pulled everyone on low end and mid-range but my son's SLP piped Viper walked by me big time on the top end. Admittedly his Viper runs real good but I thought for sure I could hang with him on the big end. He has what looks like a good 8-10 mph on me. The SRX pulls really hard to 90-95 then just flattens out. That's when he catches me and goes by. The sled is stock with 144 studs. I am running 8DN-20s with 4.5 rivits all around, w-w-w spring, Advant-edge 48-40, green spring at 70 wrap. The 3-donut gaskets are leaking a little -- would this slow me down ??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks !! Howie

a piped viper will eat a srx, they have much more agreesive porting.

I believe the srx is just over 140hp and a slp piped viper is just over 150hp.

now that is funny..."a pipes viper will eat an srx". It takes a little more then HP to win a race. Not trying to be sarcatic. I know of some srx's that will fly by thunder cats.. conditions and set up.,it has been said many times.

how are your compression #'s? do a test and post results. also keep your track loose, just to the point that i will not rachet. also was it on hard packed snow? 6 " of soft snow? glare ice? srx's do not like deep snow, esp. if you are running the stock .92 track. friend of mine has bender tripple's on his viper and he can not catch me on my stock 99 srx700!!someone here posted results on numerous triple pipe's on vipers (he has a dyno) and they were more like 135-140 . no where nere the 150-155 as manufactures advertise!!

If your not hitting 84-8500 rpm with that set up you probably have some pulled thru powervalve cables & ends.

Im comparing a slp piped viper to a stock srx. Ive seen many posts on here with well set up piped vipers having no problems going by an srx. If you just add the srx pipes to a viper it will be faster then a srx becasue of the porting.

but a ported and well clutched srx is another story.

@ weekends ago my 2002 SRX was hitting 100 mph real quick, but I had to let off throttle for safety sake. This past weekend couldn't make it past 90mph.And I cleaned and adjusted the power valves.I jetted up to a stock 2001 SRX,so that should not be a problem.DCS came on occasionally when I really pinned it from a stop position.Temps are pretty cool.-19 to -25 C. when driving.I adjusted my limiter straps another 1/4" tighter which would put more weight on the ski's.It did feel like something was holding me back...sort of felt it in a way. Will loosen the straps again to factory specs which is 32mm or 1.26 inches.

also SRX's hate sugary snow. Put them on a freshly groomed lake and they are thos little blue rockets that you see going pass you.

Snow was a little sugary and loose.... Mrviper700 -- rpm's were 82-83 out of the hole, settling down to 82 and climbing back up to 83-84 on top end. Motor is good and responsive and sounds spot on. Just doesn't want to climb any more after 95-97 on the dream meter. Conditions were 15-20 degrees, 6-8 inches of loosely packed snow over the ice. Track was almost a mile long and she just wouldn' climb any higher. My son on his SLP Viper saw 107 on the dream meter as he passed me. He has an un-studded ripsaw 121.

Thanks for everyones replys so far. Can't let my kid keep kicking the old man's butt !!! Guess I set that Viper up pretty good !

My sled did the exact same thing to me 2 weekends ago. Just barely over 95 and my brother on my sx was right next to me and once in a while ahead of me. She seemed like she was running fine but had nothing up top. When I checked the PV's they were pulled through and one actually mushroomed inside the cylinder.

Damn sorry, just seen that you cleaned and adjusted them. Good luck with your problem. I know how fustrating it is. #$%&*

yamhowie with my stock srx i use to out run very well set up piped vipers with my cluthed srx with a cold air kit.I trail rode with the clutching also.I an one of turk's 89a10 set ups but changed it a little bit

It could have just been how the air was that day. One sled jetted perfect and the other one off a bit. I've seen 117mph on a good day, and 105mph on another day. Just like my drag car, it was alway's faster in the fall when the air was good.
