I recently purchased a 2003 SXViper. My buddy has a 05 800 Renegade and all summer he was saying how bad he was going to beat me. Well we finally got to race and we both won. He would win one then I would win one. It all depended on who hooked up better at the start. We are even midrange and I have him top end. So if I have a long enough lake I can usually beat him. I want to now some inexpensive mods that would allow me to whoop up on him everytime. I had some people tell me that clutching is the first step, but I have no idea where to start. I know that the vipers weren't designed to run triple pipes so I want to stay away from those, even though they are very tempting. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

i would get a 53/43 or 51/43 helix and green spring and start from there contact cbperformace or 2000srx he is a good guy and will hook you up. also if you do a search on here there will be lots of posts about this.

No offense, but Yuk on the helix. Been there done it. I know I have probably one of the best stock Vipers on this site. PM me and I'll get you in the right place.

none taken but i love my 53/43 green spring totally changed my viper. my sled revs up to 8600 and pulls mother now. Its a great start dont have to change your stock whieghts just the rivets.

what were you running for wheights when you tried this.

As most sledders know, every sled is different. Mine was aweful with this setup. The backshift was not there at all. I ended up selling the helix to yammiegod for his VMAX4. The setup I have now has been so good, I wouldn't even think of trying anything else.

No, I had CPR pipes and a Speedwerx head on it in 2004 for half the season. I accidently left the TPI air valves open all the way in the airbox on a cold day and popped it. I ended up pulling the pipes and going back stock and I dodn't regret it. The sled had better mid to top end with the pipes, but sacrificed it's good corner to corner bottom/midrange significantly. Also it sucked fuel like a hog and was very tempermental to temperature changes. Stock my sled pulls so good that it still puts a smile on my face. Just put another 100 miles on it today. :bump:
