Wifes family has a 78 or 79 enticer 340. Cleaned the carbs tonight(we have gotten over a foot of snow in the last 24hours) it was terrible. Sled still wants to see some choke to make it run right and has a slight bog then it takes off. I am assuming there is an air screw on top of the carb. I have it turned all the way down and still the same problem. I adjusted the choke out and it helped, but still there. There is a fitting on top of the carb that points toward about the recoil handle. There is no hose on it, what is this fitting? Sled has ran great before just this has happened in the last few years. I suspect some bad gas and we are in the process of burning that out. Just looks like I need to richen the bottom end a little to get rid of the bog. I suspect a leaking seal perhaps as they said over the course of the 20 years they have had it they have replaced the same piston twice cause of a burn down. This sled is just a beater and not really wanting to put much money in it. Probably a good sled for my 3 year old in several years though. Thanks for the help.

I have exact specs for a mikuni 38mm round slide carb if you want to get one off the bay or something. We run the mikuni in our 340 and it is a winning sled in the oval races we race in. Hasn't lost a race yet out of 25+ racers in the same class. We took the stock butterfly carb off right when we got the sled so I don't know where to go from there. I know when we took the stock butterfly off it was running a 240 main and I believe a 75 pilot. You may want to try and richen up the pilot jet to get rid of the bog.

jets

did you pull the plug on the bottom of the bowl and check the jet for blockage?

Can anyone answer that question? My 82 has the same tging and I've been curious what it was for.

carb

ok, the Keihnin on my exciter has a similar fitting on the other side and it's an overflow for gas. It used to have a line on it but no more. maybe it's the same thing for Mikuni.

Hey 20000.could you give those specs on that 38 carb?Id like to give it a try.We run a enticer 340 on the ovels and are running a 34 round slide and it runs great but would love to try the 38.Also what do you run for a primary?Ive got a 102c that im gonna put on and is currentlly running a 94c.Id really appreciate any help and ideas you could give me.Thanks aton...Kevin...my e-mail address is powerlab@dreamscape.com.......thanks

I wouldn't buy the jets yet if you are considering it because I am not certain on the jetting specs. I BELIEVE the main jet is 360 and the pilot is near 40. I have it written down in a notebook we have in our trailer so I can get you the specs over the weekend. We are running a polaris P-85 clutch on there with a dark blue spring and I also BELIEVE we are running 51 gram polaris weights in it. I will clarify all of this over the weekend for you.

Hey thanks for the reply. What are you running for a secondary with the p-85 as the belt is much wider on the polaris clutch or did you adjust the spider shimming on the polaris clutch? Was the taper the same on both clutchs or did you have it machined?Ive got a 102c which is basiclly the same clutch but see the taper is different. Thanks for the info as its a great help...Kevin
