My brake light on my 98 srx is always on both fillaments lit. i put a new switch in and still no change. i checked the wires from the back all the way up the side of the chassis till it goes into the big wiring harness no rub throughs. i have continuity from the back socket into the switch as well as from the back socket right up to the blue wire at the main plug at the magneto. if i unplug the switch the light still stays on brake both fillaments lit. this leads me to believe and correct me if i'm wrong that there must be 2 wires touching somewhere up inside the harness before the switch, because this is what the switch does is close the circut to activate the brake light. when i put the new switch on i just activated it by hand and it seemed to work in reverse when activated it would dim the light from brake light to running light it only did this for a few seconds then i couldn't get it to do it again. any ideas guys?
Take your bulb out and check connectors. Bulb might be in "wrong" way

nope bulb is in right can only go in one way with the little pins on the sides and cutouts in the socket

Did you check for wires shorted together from main harness up to the handle bars right by the steering post.

no i havn't unwrapped the harness yet that is my next step pain in the butt though. there are no visible rub throughs on the outside but maybe something wore together inside where i can't see.
