Hey guys,
Was wondering what's the best seat I could buy for my viper. Something that's gonna give me enough rise and that has a good look. Would a seat riser be good? Does the apex seat fit the viper?
I was thinking about just adding some stirofoam under my seat foam and getting a seat cover custom made. Would that work???
Need help....

Boss seats are hard to beat. There a few models to choose from that fit your sled.

look to see if mountain mod makes one. they are nicer than boss.
Mountain Mod does not make one for the Viper, nor will they try. I just asked a couple of weeks ago.

I see that, but it is weird I have ridden on a highrise widetop on a Viper before. Viper Dave also had a highrise of some sort on his Viper. I have seen others as well. Maybe they quit making them for the Viper. I would check with dealers to see if they have new old stock, or look for a used one. I am also looking for a highrise widetop to fit the Viper. I see that they have eliminated the original highrise, and now only have the highrise widetop which they now call the new hightop. Confused yet? I am . . .

Here is a BOSS High raise/flat top I put on last month. I ordered it off their Web site. It took 10 weeks to get it. I love it. Great grip on the seat. Just under 6 puonds.Still tweeking the handle bar position. It feels completly diff.

they still make the flat top too - it's 1-1/2" taller than stock - the highrise widetop is 3" - which is too much IMO for trail riding, because if you include "set in" of the stock seat it's more like 6" taller than stock.

The wait sucks, but the boss is the way to go. I love mine, its a completely different sled with it. I rode one without a hirise the other day and couldnt believe the difference, i gave the sled back after about a mile.

Compared to the 2002 stock seat, I thought that what you are calling "set-in" was very similar to the Boss seat. Both seats were broken in, so I felt it was a good comparison. I would opt for the Hightop myself, you just have to roll your body more in turns.

How do you look at your seat when you are riding it?

Thats when you are going way too fast and hit a sucker bump and while you are floating in the air and this your sled with an old Boss Highrise goes by, you say cool !!! just before your buds run over you.
