my wife has a 02 srx 600 triple this weekend it just stopped running out of the blue.brought it back to the garage and messed around with it unplugged the cdi box and plug it back in and now it runs,should i replace the cdi box or just see if it happens again.also it back fired when trying to start it so i think it blew a gasket on the muffler.any input would be great,or if someone has a used cdi they want to get rid of let me know.thanks,great site 
I assume you mean a sxr600?? as there is not a srx600(triple pipes and powervalves stock and is a 1998-99 machne) , but anyways, if you unplugged the cdi box, then I would guess you have a wiring harness problem right there by the cdi box, check the harness very carefully around the foot well area. Simply unplugging the box and plugging it back in wouldnt mean the box is bad, when they go bad, they dont work and no matter how many times you unplug or plug in they still wont work. Thats not a common machine problem with that sled, cdi's last forever usually in them. I would look at the harness on that side first, you most likely just moved the harness while unplugging the box, sometimes they rub right on the bottom of the footwell top. Check it out and let us know.

sorry for the miss type,your right it is a sxr.lol.and after looking at it closer there are some black arc markings on the metal right below the plug.you were right on.the only problem is i cant find any cut/crack in any of th wires,if i reinsulated the wires do you think that would work,thanks for the help
