Does anyone here sell the Chatterboxes? I'm contemplating an X2. A couple of guys in our group have them and it would be nice. Bad thing is that I leave for up north next tuesday.... I figured there might be someone here that owns a place that sells them.
Let me know.

THat's what I'll probably do. I thought I'd give the ty community a chance to make a little from a fellow member. I also had to confirm that the guys have the chatterboxes and not collett's. I kinda wish they had the collett's.....

collets are cheaper, but the chatterboxes area way better. However the chatterboxes are very pricey. Also, their going to offer a blue tooth chatterbox for an extremely high price.

That's good to hear. I thought I had read that the collet's were better even though they had the limited channels. Do the GMRS and the FRS ones interact? I know the GMRS have longer range, require a license, but aren't there some channels that are the same?

I thought about those but they seemed a tad expensive but unsure if you can interchange to another helmet(dirtbike style for summer ATVing)
But after some homework you can get a set of Motorola GMRS walkie talky or other brands and then throw on a set of Firefox Throat Mics...allot cheaper...drowns out the noise and can use for different helmets...or use the walky talkies for other uses...
Better yet...the Garmen Rhino also offers the same capabilities with a GPS addon...and can still uses a set of Firefox throat mics...Sweeet!!!
I'll admit expensive toys for saying...turn left here...I'm hungry...or I gotta pee...hehehehe...
cheers

I have the radios already...heck 4 of them if I can find them all. I might need to look around and see who carries the firefox mic's locally...

I've got 2 older FRS's that unfortunetly don't have the same pin design as the newer ones..just make sure when you look for the Firefox etc..that the pin design is compatible with your GMRS system...You can look em up on ebay...
Awhile back on our local Canadian "snowmobiler TV" show..they did a spotlight on these systems...apperently the whole Throat mic came for a military idea...they've carried them on through paint ball...Street bikes ets...I had the link..but they've changed em up...and there are a few different manufacturors...so investigate before you order...
This link http://www.clearercom.com/index.htm is the original source that the show highlighted...they even had the show on this website but changed it over..these systems are also a tad more expesive...
As for music...I read somewhere that you can interchange from an ipod to the GMRS..but I don't think both at once...I also like riding with some backround music aswell...
good luck

yes the gmrs and frs work together and you don't need an fcc license to use the gmrs. With the gmrs you can listen to music, cell, and chat. I actually have a sirius satalite radio called the stilletto 100 pluged in. I like to listen to howard or music on the long runs like corridors while cruising. However, If I go out to bust drifts or ditch bang I like to hear what my motor is doing. I have a pair of firefox throat mics for sale if someone wants them. I'll have to find them and figure a price.
