i was looking on ebay and i say a 1978 ssr 440, selling for 10,000 dollars. does this sled have the 77 srx motor in it. also is it faster than the 77 srx. it looked lighter, and the motor looked identical to the 77srx. any information will be appreciated.
Hello,
The motor is completely different. It weights a lot more and it's an oval sled. That went cheap. They usally go for $12000-$15000. I know of one that's worth over $18000. Not mine however. The 77 srx was the fastest. Dean-o

77 SRX WOULD BEAT THE SSR. ALTHOUGH MOTORS WERE SIMILIAR, 77 SRX WAS BETTER DRAG SLED. 3:16 (tony)
Tony,
The bottom end had huge bearings strieght accross and completely different cases then any SRX. Good for the asphalt??????????? HINT HINT. Can you guess what's up my sleeve? How ever I have the right to change my mind at any time. Ha Ha.....Dean-o

Is it the rarity alone that makes them so valuable? they were never Yamaha's most succesful racer.
Thunderjet,
They really sucked on the track, but they all love that look and only about 150 made. Rare Rare very rare.....Dean-o

I remember the footage from eagle river.."Rosenquist into the wall",
Morio Ito did get second but i think only 3 sleds finished the race.
i was hoping a Al Enno reproduction would turn up at eagle river this year, just to see one race.
