Looking to stud my 1 1/4" track on my Expert X suspension. AD Boivin says to run track very loose, will this cause problems with my heat exchanger? What about the 9 tooth drivers on my viper?

8 Tooth drivers and then you can leave the exchanger protection, make sure you run tunnel protection all the way to the front or you will get track slap when braking and it will hit the tunnel near the drivers.

The Expert was installed using the 9 tooth as a dimension guide. Will the 8 tooth screw things up?

With 1 1/4 tack you wont have the room between the track and the exchangers with the stock 9 tooth drivers with studs. The smaller drivers will allow the track to rap the drivers tighter. See how much you can adjust the track adjusters, if you dont have much left them it may be a problem.

I was wondering the same thing cause I dont know if I wanna run studs or not with my 1.25 predator track. Main reason I havent installed the skid and track yet, not sure what to do.
9 VS 8 tooth drivers
Even though the Expert was installed using the 9 tooth measurements from the instructions it is ok to change to 8 tooth. It will work fine. Been there, done that. Tom is exactly right though.....need to run the tunnel protectors all the way to the front of the tunnel. When I first did mine the track would baloon between the front heat exchanger and the tunnel protectors when braking.......actually ripped the fuel pump mount right out of the sled. And also, don't use the crappy Yamaha 90 degree angle stuff. There's not enought surface area and it just wears the protectors and the track and then your studs will begin hitting. I like to use 1"X1" X 1/8" wall square aluminum tubing......works very well.
