I'm running Dalton DPY 55.5 clutch weights and seem to be over reving? Pulling about 8700rpm right through. Right now I have a Dalton 51/43 helix, green secondary and a 22T top gear. Will running heavier weights cure my overrev problem? Also wondering if going back to my stock 8BU-00's will help. Right now they have a rivet in the outer hole but none in the inner. Maybe I could add a rivet? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes running heavier weights will bring down your rpms, but keep in mind that running aftermarket weights does not provide you with near as much tunablity in where exactly the mass is located on the flyweight, so it is harder to fine tune your rpms and you may have to use the secondary to fine tune rpms which is not the correct way to go about it. Also, the 8BU weights are not stock on that sled, but are a good weight that a lot of people use in srx's, usually for drag conditions.

I ran a 48/40 advantedge with those weights in my SRX & it ran pretty good.

You can keep those weights but your gonna need more helix depending on what rpm,s are from a dead stop right to top end.

Can you add different weight rivet's? Maybe I could put my stock weights back in and put a heavier weight in the tip. Also, what does adding weight to the inner hole accomplish. More bottom end pull?

adding to the heel, creates faster mid range shift ( faster accelleration, IF you don't overshift ahead of your engine powerband)
changing the 3.6g to 4.5g rivits in the heel of the 8DN20 weights works well ( 8DN20= 2000+ srx weights)

adding weight to the tip lowers the top end rpm

for the stock weights, you can buy yamaha rivits cheap. my dealer has them in stock.

thre are charts in the tech section showing the rivit weights/colors/sizes

Great, thanks for the info. I may even change my gearing back to stock as this should also load my engine. First though I will try the rivets in the heel of the stock weights.

Just looked online for a parts number. The rivets are listed as 13.3mm, 11.3mm, 10.3mm, 17.3mm etc. Anyone know what this means? Also some say AL and some ST. I assume this is for aluminum and steel. Are the ST17.3mm the heaviest?

Just checked the tech section and found all the information I was looking for. There is all kinds of great information in there on clutching. Looks like using the 8BU's won't help my problem since they weight less than my Dalton DPY 55.5 weights. Thanks for all the great advice!
