I have a 02 Viper that is closing in on 5,000 miles. It's stock, in perfect shape, but in my home state of NH it's worth maybe $2500 and that is probably being generous.
For those that have parted out sleds what kind of return could I expect?
Thanks,
Doug

I've never parted a sled, but I can't believe that you'd think about parting out a perfectly good Viper because it has ALMOST 5,000 miles. I have 8500 on my 02 and it still goes as good as the day I bought it. I plan on riding it for another year and then keeping it as a spare. Just my .02.

Ditto. I'm starting to feel this will be the only way to get any decent amount of money for my srx, and that thing is mint! Won't sell for 2600, and its an '01! What is this market coming to?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great sled and it is sure to go many more miles. But if I could end up with $3500-4000????? or so by parting it out vs. $2500 for selling outright it gives me a bigger chunk of $$$ toward a new/newer sled.
I'm just looking for real world experience. If parting it out would only yield $3000 than the extra $500 is probably not worth the time, energy, and effort to deal with a large # of buyers, boxing items, shipping, etc, etc.

Worth it!
Yes, it is definately worth it if all you can get is $2500. Problem is that it is a time consuming pain in the butt to part out a sled. Lots of shipping and dealing with people saying "I'll take it" and then never sending a check.

Write down what you think you would get for the major parts.. IE 800 engine, 2-250 Rear Skid, 150 per side for the front, 100 for the seat, 75-100 gauges, 100-150 for the chaincase, 75-100 for each clutch, 50-100 for the track, hood probably require local buyer 100, plasic 50 each side whats that 2100? or so

problem is, is that you come to all the little stuff that nobody ever needs. anybody ever really have to replace a footwell shroud to often? tunnels alone cost more to ship than what they are worth. its best if you can do it in large chunks. like sell the motor complete and then the rolling chassis would be ideal depending on how much you can get.

I've parted out three srx and made money on the good stuff that people needed, but then your stuck with alot of bits and pieces nobody wants.Alot of work aswell cause you don't want to damage any parts.

alot of good experiences above, i would keep it for a back up
or sell when we have a good year, it's a big PITA to part a sled...
plus like mentioned above i can't see parting a perfectly good machine
what a waist........
