My brother always said how he liked my tripple,he is a skidoo man but he admitted how smooth they are. So he recieved a 96 skidoo for almost nothing and it had a burnt piston real low miles (real low miles) well he took it aoart and someone kept it running when it went needless to say crank bearings are toast on that side, I figured I would ask if anyone knew of a company or someone might have a good crank from that era!!!! Pricing would help so my brother would know what he's getting into. I know some of you have ridden these sleds so I told him I would ask. Were they the years skidoo had problems with cranks? I don't think so but I don't know.

THANX!!!

PAUL

Reman cranks from BRP go for $350 - $450. That is the best way to go. It would easily cost you that much to get the crank rebuilt only replacing the parts you have to. If you want to go used, post on www.dootalk.com, and other sites, but beware what you get.

Which engine is it? 583, 670?

With that era it is usually cheaper to find a good used motor unless you want to have newly rebuilt. It depends on whether or not the sled is worth a newly rebuilt engine. Only the owner can decide that.

Ding it's a 780 tripple I am only going off of what he knows about it.The thing is mint and he almost got it for nothing and I mean nothing!!!!(700 miles on it) He's lucky like that. do you have a # for me and where they are located at? Thanx ding !!!

BRP is the sled manufacturer just check with a few dealers for a reman crank. Once you get a part number there are also dealers that offer discounts online. If you were in Canada you could contact Adrien Bernard (sp?), but customs will cost you a bit being in the US. You may want to go to their site anyway for reference. There are good crank shops here in the US also.

Believe it or not, this is a case where the OEM part is usually the cheapest. Now that will make you wonder why ? ? ? Volume maybe ? ? ?

btw: I am guessing that sled is a Mach Z with the 779 in it. I show part number 420 8875 90 for a new crankshaft assembly. The reman part number should be different.

Thanx ding, It is a z and you are probably right as to why they are cheaper I will let him know. Anyone out there with a junk sled? Sled is like new but it can;'t go anywhere.

AAB sells reman cranks for $531.25 CAD (Canadian Dollars) with a $200 core. You should be able to get a reman for under $500 USD here in the states. If the sled is that nice, I wouldn't mess with anything less than a completely rebuilt crank and new seals. Actually that is a really nice motor that usually runs well.

The Sled Clinic (Hildebrand's Marine) in Coldwater, MI might be a good place to start. They have a website.

By the way which bearings are toast? The inner ones (between rods) or the outer (PTO, MAG) ones?
