Was wondering if anyone has any experience clutching a 95-96 Vmax 600 with GYT twins. I have it set up the way Yamaha suggests, P-P-P primary spring, 2 shims, and 17.2mm rivet on the inner hole and open on the outer hole. No changes to the secondary. Engagement is at 3900 and full shift is at about 8350.
Does anyone have a better setup for this sled with these pipes?

I don't have a better setup but this I can tell you. We used to call those pipes "GYT to your dealer pipes" for more pistons and cylinders soon cause she is gonna blow. We had them on 3 different sleds with numerous set ups and after about a dozen melt downs and one broken crank we gave up. Good luck to you.

I have gyt twins on my 96 xt. I set up the clutch and jets to the yamaha recomended settings and have had pretty good luck. Have 2600 miles on with one burn down. This was due to bad gas as the stock ski-doo and cat also burned down withoin 2 or 3 miles of each other. Would like to strangle the owner of that gas station. No recomendations on your questions but I certainly recomend running ONLY premium fuel. Did you put on the thinner head gasket?

Thanks for the replies. I do only run 93 Octane in the sled and have been running the pipes for 2 seasons now with no problems. Yamaha had several updates on the carb settings for these pipes and they finally got it right, at first they had pretty lean jetting which caused all those burn downs mentioned. The 95 Vmax's came stock with the thin head gasket.
