Hey everyone, i have a slight issue.
I have been running this sled for this year witha brand new clutch, cleaned carbs, and new everything in the engine. The other day i was riding it and revving it high when all of a sudden the tors light went on. When it went on i could feel and hear a subtle "train track" like noise. It didnt feel right, but all of the performance was there. I didnt service it, but i gave it to some perfessionals locally to do the job. They replaced the clutch and aligned the engine. I dont know what is wrong. The clutch looks fine and i dont know what the tors light is. How can i fix this???..i spent $2000 on tune up repairs and dont feel like spending more. Are the clutch and tors light related? What does it mean when the clutch does this. Also, if im doing a high speed run, and then suddenly hit the brake, the clutch makes a sort of clunking noise while spinning until the engine lowers rpm. What can that be?
again, the performance is there but it just doesnt feel good...help me please!!!

$2000 on repairs? Wow that's the second largest repair bill I have ever seen. $6500 was the biggest.
The TORS system has been explained a few times over the past week or so. It is a simple fix usually and is all related to the throttle lever/carb relationship. Take a look back in the forum you'll find the answer.
Your other issue is secondary sheave setting related or a chain that is too loose.
The clutch (the primary one I assume) making a clunking sound while it is disengaging is somewhat normal. The clunk should be slight and not pronounced. You need to understand how they work. When it is engaged (squeezing against the belt) the flyweights are overcoming the spring preload. As the engine RPM lowers the weights no longer produce enough force to overcome the preload and the clutch moves out against the stops. You say everything is new right? Worn out weights and rollers may help with this be more pronounced.
The "train" noise? Well all else being equal it is most likely the track and a bit of that noise is normal. If the chain is at the right tension and your belt is new then you should be fine. A "train track" noise is commonly made by the track flexing as it bends slightly around all the wheels on the suspension.
You say you took it to some professionals? Were they Yamaha Mechanics? I'd take it back and make sure they got it right seeing as you spent 2 grand on repairs.

$2k is a lot make them stand behind their work. That sled should be perfect for that kind of coin.FuzzButt said:You say you took it to some professionals? Were they Yamaha Mechanics? I'd take it back and make sure they got it right seeing as you spent 2 grand on repairs.
