How much is a Vmax-4 worth?

Ive got the chance to buy a '94 Vmax-4 750 for $1500. The sled looks to be in pretty good shape, the only area of concern is that the seat needs to be recovered (has a split in the middle of it). It has 3200 miles on it.
Im considering having my '01 Polaris 600 XC as my trail sled and using this Vmax-4 as my radar run sled.
How good is the Vmax as a trail sled (we are talking tight and twisty trails with huge moguls)? Is it something that I could trail ride and then occasionally race at radar runs and have a sled that is good at both? To me it just looks like it would be such a heavy sled and Im not sure how much Id like the low handlebars and low seat. Im sure thats great for speed runs, but Im not sure how good it would be on the tight, twisty and moguled trails of NE Wisconsin.
Is that a fair price for that sled?

Vmax-4's are not good trail sleds - more suited for drags and radar runs - too heavy and not that good of suspensions - you can put newer skids under them and make them suitable for smooth trail running but still won't be too good for tight trails and moguls - put a set of quad pipes on it and you will love the sound!!!
 
Getting a V-Max-4 is like buying a Hemi-Cuda. It does not take much to wake these monsters up. Shaved heads, Quad pipes, and clutching for the motor. Then you need to hook the horses to the snow. Minimum 216 studs and a set of transfer rods. They don't handle like a sports car in the twisties but when you crack her on a open stretch hang on dude. Visit vmax4.com and chat with those guy's. YAMMIEGOD 3:16 is a V-Max guru. Not many (or any?) models have a cult like following like the mighty max. Let alone a dedicated web site. I have a rare '97 with a Pro-action skid and it's a head turner. Just the sound of those Quad pipes crackling like firecrackers in a garbage can is a real head turner. Parts are still easy to get. I will never part with mine. I have a Viper, Long tracked SXR, and an M-7 Cat for deep stuff. My V-Max is for Lakes and radar runs. I always get asked to open the hood a few times when I take her out. My Aaen quads look like a bowl of spegettie under there. I would love to get another one for a drag sled project but it would kill me to cut one of these fine machines up. The MSRP on my '97 V-Max 4 was $10,999.00 back in '97. Not many people were willing to fork over that kind of cash for a sled back then. They are getting rare.

well I picked up my 95 vmax 800 2 years ago for $2300 canadian nad that came with quads,porting,reeds,bored carbs and reeds, and spared included 1 jug,bottomend,stator pipes and electrics....I think I got a good deal.
 
$1500 is not a bad deal but I have seen quite a few 95/96 800's sell for the same amount over the last couple years and the 800's have more HP and way better secondary setup than the 92-94's, also they are not made for snowcross type riding but I have over 20,000 trail miles on my 1992, they are best suited for the non tight twistie trails unless it is really cold outside then having to manhandle one of these beasts helps keep you warm!
