Thank for all the advise
great site and people!!!
Finally getting snow tonight may I can ride from home. let the blizzard happen!!!!

I don't know what happened to your post but here are my thoughts.

Get a new pump. Install it and make sure you bleed it properly.

You can replace the pistons with stock Yamaha Pistons from '98 600's. Do the pistons, rings, pins, circlips. Replace the base gasket and head gasket. You can do the head gasket mod while you have it apart. You might need a set of intake gaskets and the "O-Ring" type exhaust gasket at the cylinder. Get all Yamaha replacement gaskets.

The pistons should be Yamaha brand but I have had Kimpex replacement pistons in mine for almost 2000 miles and they preform perfectly. I got them as a set for about what 1 complete Yamaha piston costs.

Finally take the cylinders to a machine shop and have them lightly ball-hone them to get the hash marks correct so the rings seat properly.

All in all it is not that hard to do as long as you have all the necessary tools and a plan of attack. I've done 3 and it is not that difficult once you do it the first time. If you need more info feel free to ask more questions.

Thanks for the reply Fuzzbutt. Ive done many rebuilds. This sled has psi pipes, maxperformance clutch kit, stopper notch mod and head gasket mod. Have a porting template from Logic but did not do the porting yet. That will be done In the off season along with new pistons.Did anyone ever try the Logic porting templates? What did you think?Did 250 miles last week. I was expecting more from the upgrades that are already done but I do have the oil problem. Im sure 20-1 mix is affecting the performance. Ride On!

Fuzz is spot on except i would use OEM pistons and rings and use a
3 stone spring flex hone NOT a ball hone.... why you ask?,

they dont cut evenly in a 2 stroke jug,,,,the balls flex in and bounce off the sides/edges of the exh port and transfer ports and could chip the nic.

you get a much nicer job with a spring flex hone on a smomobile
2-stroke jug.

you really don't need to hone them eather but if you must(can't sleep
at night) use 240-280 grit stones.. $.02 :)
