I have a 2001 srx and after I get it started cold sometimes the idle will go to around 3000-3500 with the choke 1/2 and no throttle. Now is this somewhat done by the computer with timing or is there something wrong???? Just seems odd because it doesn't do this every cold start. Also sometimes when it's really cold like 0' F on a cold start it takes awhile for the lights and tachometer to come on, warm up timer???? I didn't think this thing was that advanced but I really don't know........

mine did that to, its the load control relay on the left footwell, pull both relays and bring em inside and put them on a heater, mrviper had told me to do this so i did and no problems since, i guess they get moisture in them.... as for the high idle like that i dont know, mines done it a few times as well, i just flick the choke off and then it will come right back down to a normal idle, if it starts to die on ya flick the choke a few times and it'll be good, thats what i do anyways.
Good luck

Thanks for the light advice, I thought maybe she just wanted to get all warmed up!!! Well the idle thing only happens when it's real cold and I do exactly what you do, just thought maybe there was a problem, thanks

The lights are suppose to stay off till i think 7 or 800 rpm's when first
started, thats so all the power goes to the ignition system to fire the
plugs..

The high idle is just because it's a little lean on the idle circuit at colder temps. You could turn your fuel screws out a whisker next time you have your carbs off if it's common. If it's only when colder than normal, don't worry about it.

I like to have a slitely higher(2000+) idle at start up when warming
first thing, that way when warm she'll idle down(16-1700) nicely..
