got smoked by a Merc Twister 440 (again) today. I realize he's got twin carb but what options do I have to put on this sled (and stay single carb for stock class) that may help me keep up? It's got the stock Keihnin 44-38 in it. I've jetted it about as good as I can get it and can't catch them twin carb sleds. it's a little boggy off the line too, engaging at 4000 right now with a Comet 108 . maybe just need to lose a few pounds eh? I'm oval racing this sled.
any help would be appreciated. rules are any carb(s) for stock, no flatsides though

thanks in advance

I used duel 38 roundsides , runs real good Used Phazer carb boots and boost bottle , Real quick , i still have to to some pilet Jetting it has a slight bog at lower end but when it kicks into the mid range its insane

what sanctioning body are you running in? BEVRA? i thought all stock class sleds had to use the same size carb as stock? i'd probably try a 38 mik
A guy used to race in Eagle River on a 76 or 77 exciter and no one could touch him.I think his name is Brian Ehman.

haven't run a BEVRA this year just a couple at Albright Shores this year and Crystal Lake. (kids stuff you know?) their rules say any carb(s) and you can change the sled out to twin carbs I found and still run stock. (which makes it kinda improved stock if you ask me) but anyway just looking to get a little more out of it. In the 108 I've got a blue spring and A-18 arms. It's a little boggy out of the hole still at 4000 engagement. may have to get a little higher yet (probably my 235# doesn't help much).I've finally got it turning sweet in the corners just need to get a little better acceleration out of the corner now.
Thanks for the help.

A good mikuni roundslide setup will help a lot. Prob twin 38's would do it. You'll find throttle response much different with any slide carb. You can actually run a smaller slide carb than your original butterfly carb due to the increased airflow.

thanks for the help. this gives me great info to go on to be ready for next year. thanks again.
