On 1 cylinder on my srx oil is spraying out the weep hole on the powervalve alot more than the other 2. It is really making a mess of things. What would cause this to be happening. Thanks for any info.

Thanks alot. Does it hurt anything running it lke that. Of course besides making a big mess. Don't want to ruin anything also do not want to lose any riding time. Thanks again.

90% of the time its carbon build up on the powervalve shaft, and usually just a small amount.the weep hole is the tall tale sigh that oil/gas/carbon is leaking past the shaft and seal (part #20). ive seen people just clean the face of the powervalves ,so while you have the seals on order pull your valves completly and clean the shaft with scotch bright(green)and carb cleaner, might be all it will take ...

yup somtimes just cleaning the pv shaft helps but if there original seals
wouldn't be a bad idea to change 'em out, there cheap..

I think it is time to freshen up the whole motor. Everything is original on my 01 SRX except a 780 big bore kit I installed after the first 800 miles. It has over 3,500 miles now. I keep putting off the rebuild cause of the limited time I have had to ride with these sucky winters lately. It runs awsome and has never even fouled a plug. No issues what so ever exept one of the Bender Big Bore pipes busting right in half at the chamber. Even still running the stock track with 244 studs. Knock on wood this has been a great sled, but now it is time to pay it back for being so good to me. I can see a complete overhaul coming this summer. Thanks again to everyone.

clean off the housing & wrap with heat tape. a lot easier than taking apart.

Huh??
Why would you want to do that??,it would look like crap and it's just putting a band-aid on it... the seal is a few buck's only and about 15min's to change..bufalobob said:clean off the housing & wrap with heat tape. a lot easier than taking apart.

trying to save him some work. he wants to stop the messy leak. alum. heat tape does just that. you have to look close to even see the tape. it blends in with the cylinder.
never make more work for yourself than necessary & never take apart more than you need to get the job done.
15 min. can turn in to hours depending on what you run into.

myself i don't like doing half a$$ jobs, do it right and you don't have to worry about it later going bad or having problems, but i guess he can do it anyway he wants...$.02
