if i take off the jugs and head will i have a problem if it sits for awhile? liek a couple months tops. i want to check and see if the rings and pistons are good. its on a 98 700 sx. thanks. i blew the head gasket and i cant afford new ones for awhile so im bored and want to work on it.

Thats a long time to leave it open,,i would try to wait, but if you just
can't i guess if a guy sprayed wd-40 on everything real good then cover
it would be ok , but i would wait..

i have a spare crank for my '94 PZ that i have wraped in plastic that i give
a good shot of wd every now and then and it looks as good as the day
i pulled it out of the case...

yea i figured if i covered it with wd 40 it would be fine. it will be in an unheated garge. and ill throw a tower over the engine.

I'd just pour a bunch of yamalube on the internals and cover it with a new lint free rag. Skip the WD. If you want a spray oil use fogging oil.

Another option is put it back together with what you have. Even if the pistons are not installed on the rods you can still bolt back down the cylinders and head lightly. Don't forget to fog it first.

And I just threw out a set of old 700 gaskets. They where used but in like new shape. Spray it with fogging oil, and make SURE you get any antifreeze out of the cases that seeps in. Maxdlx
