I have a 99 srx 700 with M-10 136" rear skid, 1 1/2" paddle track. I broke a drive axle 2 years ago - had it replaced with a used axle during a trip from a pre 2000 model. 150 miles later last year, I snap another one. (WTF!!) The new axle in it now is from an 01 SRX. Mountain Performance claims SX chassis sleds 1999 and older are prone to this and they sell $100 replacement or $400 titanium axle. Has anyone heard of this problem or am I just unlucky??

Having the track too tight will snap the axle. With a 136 m-10 I would think you would want it on the loooose side.

yup that is a problem with the pre-2000 drive axles, and is amplified by running too tight of a track as danger dog said, and also if you ever hit anything when off trail that can contact the drivers and stress the driveshaft. Replace with a newer style one and you're good.

I broke 3, my ridding partner broke 3, both of use too stupid/cheap to buy the post 2000 axle. Used up a bunch from the 2" MM conversions from 97-98. Once you have an updated axle your good. The speedo end is either a 45 degree champher or a milled slot like a piston ring slot. I can't remember which is which but that how you tell if you have the updated axle. I tried to order a ti axle once. Out of stock so I never got one. Not sure about the value vs price. They are a lot of money.
