ok my friend has an 01 srx its not running on the mag side, compression is 120 in all 3 cylinders,I pulled the powervalves they are good, clean and adjusted right.pulled the carbs, jets, and needles ,cleaned alls good in there, spark is very strong nice crisp blue.(was lots of water in the mag side carb (he was running with airbox lid off completly open to the powder snow) i figured the carb was frozen.after cleaning it all up and putting in new plugs it fired up ran on the mag side when he went to pull away that cylinder went dead again????? pulled the plugs (wet with water as well).cleaned and warmed up the plugs pulled over the sled with gas off to clear the cylinder installed plugs again. It fired up and ran longer this time maybe 5 mins than it died again?? changed out the plugs again ,again it started and ran longer pulled hard and after a few mins that side went dead again.
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Im stumped any advise any1 seen this b4?

not 100% sure seems to be some water on the plugs when pulled. prob gas and water. maybe he filled the crank with water as well ?? would the reeds have anything to do with it ?

No..try turning your carb heaters off...
maybe he got some bad gas with water in it??? drain and get new..

If only that cyl. is not fireing and the rest are it cant be bad gas then,
are you sure you checked everything out in that carb good??
where is the float hight set to? it should be set at: 11.3 to 15.3mm
is the slide working in that carb, sometimes the screw comes off and
the slid don't go up with the shaft?????????(run at idle only)

sounds like some residual water left somewhere in that system that keeps knocking out that cylinder. I would drain the gas and throw in a fresh tank, and keep changing/drying out plugs until that cylinder doesn't die anymore. That water will get out of there eventually as long as the fresh gas doesn't have water in it and you keep running it through.

ya it is for sure specific to that side.so ya cant be water in the gas. I never measured the exact float level but i did do a fuel(float) level check . with a external float level guage and the level was spot on. maybe the float needle is sticking seemed fine but you never know ill check it out again.maybe flooding on that side.
thanks again.
thanks again.

ill change out the gas this am with new and ill add gass line antifreez. I was thinking it was water in the crank and was thinking if i could get it running long enough and have him give her a good run to warm up the eng that that would be all it would take, burn out the water with a good hot eng. every time i switch plugs it does get better and run longer than b4 .I'll still recheck the float but i still think water is the problem.

if there was water in the case it would foul the other two too you would
think???

ok so the carb was good and in spec.it sat in a cold shed overnight no ice in the gas tank , did a boar scope on the crank through the (removed)reed cage and exhaust port AAA HA ice in the bottom, so added de icer to the gas put a splash down the head and also into the crank . sucket it all out blow dry, put it all back together and fired her up running like new again. now hes out riding and im still at work ...thats not fair . WEIRD it was but fixed it is ,,,thanks agn
