I put new boyesen dual stage reeds in my sled. The sled works awsome on bottom end and mid range, big difference in throttle response, when it gets to top end it will only rev to about 7300-7400 rpm it usually revs to 8000 when i have it pined. it seems to be slower too.

I changed my main jet size from stock 151.3 to 150. seems to be a little better. My sled goes to about 8100 rpm and then drops back to about 7100 rpm when i have it wide open . Is this normal or should it stay at 8100 rpm ?

no that is not normal. Did it do this before you put the reeds in? Sounds more like a clutching issue to me. Also could be dirty carbs. When was the last time they were cleaned? How much carbon is on the plugs (what color are they, or post pictures if possible)

yes the sled did this before i put the reeds in. It has done this as long as i can remember

I checked the tech pages and compared my plugs with the ones on there, they look perfect. I still dont know why the sled will go to 8100 rpm and drop back to 7100 when throttle is wide open.

sounds like clutching.

what can i do to see if it is clutching?
Sounds like you can't pull the wieght in the clutch at top end. You'll need to list the current setup and then the guys here can point you in a direction or eliminate clutching as a problem.
Weights, rivets and which hole they are in, primary spring, secondary spring, helix, spring wrap.
