Got me an 98' SRX600 last month and really love it

Checked with Yamaha (1-800 factory peeps) to see if she had her crank recall work done.

well the lady tells me that my serial number is not for a 600 but in fact for a 700.

didnt think this could be true but today I went and stopped in at the local yamaha shop and we checked the VIN and the serial on the motor. Sure enuff the original owner must have put 600 stickers on the hood cus shes a 98 SRX700

now to get the clutch set up better with hopefully some help from change_up and she should it 120mph me hopes

See ya on the trails :)

Side note.. another storm warning for District 9 tonite (ontario)

Hey Ken I just got in and saw you were trying to get ahold of me tonight. I was out in the garage swapping my tracks over. The track on my SRX is no more... falling apart fast with studs ripping out, so i'm swapping to the 1.25 track i had on my other sled for now until the summer. I'll be at it again tomorrow lol. Give me a shout again tomorrow some time likely after 5 and i'll hopefully have the job done and we can get that thing goin as i'm not too busy at the moment lol. Or if you have plans for tomorrow night that's cool too.

Did you take it to Big Daddy's to check it out?

nope I stopped in at M&N ( i think thats what they are called,) in Shelbourne.. the numbers on the cylinder heads matched up with a 700 along with the serial numbers

I mentioned how at WOT my tach is climbing past 9000 and rising when I am at only 155+ so he said there is definatley clutching issues

Hope its cheap to adjust and set

I will call you tomorrow and maybe I can ride it up to your place if its easy to get to..
and your not too busy

Thanks

If you look on the side of the cylinders it will say 695 cm^3 if its a 700. The spec calls it a 696cc, but the cylinders say 695cc. Anyway, it is not hard or expensive to clutch it. We can get you dialed in and make that thing scream.

The cylinder head will say 8dn if its a 700. it will have 8df if it,s a 600. Same as the cylinders; same part #.

It says 8DN on he cylinders. I checked that as soon as I got home Whoopa and hopefully when you mean cheep you mean like under 100$ :)

Cus then the wife wont notice :D

Yep if you want to get it set up really well you could find some parts off here for around 100. figure $30-40 for a set of weights, $30-60 for a helix, and maybe $20 for a spring from the dealer. It just depends what you want. The 98-99 SRX 700's came stock with 8DN-00 weights and they have some of the best top end you can get, but not so good in the lower and mid range. Still decent, but don't do any drag racing with them. A set of 8DN-20's are a good all around weight for the SRX.

well I think cheking what I have now and adjusting it. The previous guy added some shims but I bet its in need of straight adjustments.

Are you working tomorrow there Matt?

I wont be going anywhere tonite thats for sure :) SNOW BABY SNOW
