I have assembled all the necessary componets to convert my 1997 700 SX to a long travel (front and rear) setup with the exception of the limiter straps. If I buy the longer straps from Yamaha off of a 2001 SX-R, they are approximately $40.00 a set. Or, I can buy limiter strap material in 22" lengths for $6.00 each from a local sled parts supplier.

Is their any issues with using these generic limiter straps for this set-up?

Also, Other than the limiter strap adjustment and the thinner control rod spacers, are their any other adjustments or issues to address when making this conversion.

Thanks,

thats what I did

I used baler belting, and it works just fine. 371mm is short travel you need 396mm. easiest way is cut your strips to length and width, then use your old strap to mark the holes and drill them out. JMO Maxdlx

baler belting

The belts on a round baler, for hay. converyor belting would work. Maxdlx

Measuring the limiter strap

When replacing the limiter straps with longer ones. Several posts have suggested the recommended length of these straps. Is this measurement taken from the end of each loop?

I have seen some information refering to the measurement from the bolt hole to bolt hole. If this is the case then it will be critical for me to use the same loop size as the stock ones.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks
