Has anyone put a magneto and stator assembly from a 2000 or newer SRX on a 99 SRX? I would like to have the higher wattage system if a swap is possible.

Yes it can be done. Do a search on this topic, it has been brought up many times. You will need the stator, pickup, you need to get your cases machined for the new pickup, main wiring harness, and obviously the gauge pod and headlight unit.

Just did it

I just did this swap on a 98 SRX. Converted it to a 2001. As stated before you will need to weld a new pick up area in the case because the new stuff is smaller. You will need stator, flywheel, entire wiring harness (incl CDI, regulator, smoothing capacitors and relays, ignition, hand/thumb controlls), headlight, guage pod, windshield, tachometer, TPS carbs. Just find a newer sled someone is parting out and get out your wallet!!!

Madmatt: Did you notice any diffrence on your sled after the conversion? I mean like performance?

Diff in performance

Well, I can see now that I actually have a real headlight. I really can't comment on performance because I had MRVIPER700 do some porting and head work. It runs really well now!
