just getting ready to install my new www spring on my 99 srx 700. when i removed the red/orange colored primary spring that was in it , i saw that there was 1 eng. shim installed. do i need this with the www? i have www prim. spring, 89a-10 weights with what looks to be 4.5 inner and 3.6 outer rivits, 48/42 advant-edge helix with a yamaha green sec. spring. with the pre. set up i was shifting to 8100 and would sometimes creep up a little to 8300. engagement was at around 4000. this is where i would like it to be. i could only get around 100mph with the pre. set up . btw. who makes this red/ orange colored primary spring and is it any good? looking for a good aggresive trail set up with good top mph!!

Put the 2 springs together with the shim under the red spring they should be the same height so i would not use it under the www or it will not fully shift out the clutch.

if your concerned about the 100 mph it's prob the 89a-10's they are not good for top end..no tip weight..thats some of your problem why your not getting the top speed.I dont think one shim will effect your rpms much if any...might raise the shift rpm a tad.

what is the shim made out of? Because the deep pocket primaries have a white plastic spacer in them, but that isn't an engagement shim. Is that what you're talking about, or is it a metal shim?

no, it's the metal one.

Oh ok just checking. You dont have to run with an engagement shim with the W-W-W spring. Obviously you could if you had really good traction and wanted to run higher engagement, but most sleds don't have enough traction to take advantage of the higher h.p. available at that higher engagement rpm.
