Trying to find out the minimum operating temp for an 02 viper. I am looking at adding an after market water temp gauge. I have had no luck at finding this information in the service manual or from the dealer. I have tryed to read a stat but the dealer here was going to have to order one meaning I would own it.
Also is the calculation for the boiling point of the coolant the same as on a car rad, were each 1 pound of pressure in the coolent system raises the boiling point of the coolent by 3 degrees.

Your looking for a MINIMUM operating temp? I think this is kind of a subjective measurement as to what is warm enough, but i wouldn't be pushing on it at all until the coolant is up to at least 100*F. Should run more along the lines of 170-190*F at running temp. And yes 1lb for 2-3 degrees of boling point increase is a good rule of thumb.

170-190 for the coolant is too hot. The temp light will come on around 180. The thermostat opens at 125 degrees on mine and I like to run it around 130. I start looking for loose snow to cool it down when it gets around 150, but it usually only gets up there when running hard. I have a digitron EGT gage with a water temp probe in the hose coming out of the head.

Opps, I didn't address the minimum temp. I agree with 100 degrees for your warmup temp +-10 degrees.

You don't want to run much above 140. Much different than a car or 4stroke. Get it too hot and the rings loose their tension and break.
