Hello All,
I have a 2001 SRX 700
I was checking over my power valves last night. I took the cover of the Servo-motor off and noticed a considerable amount of slack in all three cables. I cleaned each valve and replaced them but the slack is still there.
My question is: Is this normal? Are my Power valves opening all the way? If not, How can I quickly fix this? (I'm leaving this afternoon on a trip and should have taken care of this last week.)
Any help would be appreciated.

How much slack is in the cables? If you have somewhere around 2-3mm of free play in the housings, your fine.
It sounds like your valves are out of adjustment though. If you do a search on adjusting powervalves, you will find 2 methods of adjusting them.
taking the pipes off and adjusting the valves flush with the exhaust port. This is the way I prefer to do them, but it takes MUCH longer
there is also loosening the powervalve housings, sticking 2 - 2.5mm allen keys between the housings or a 2mm and a 3mm and tighten the housing up to hold the allen key in there, then adjust the valves until there is very little to no slack on the cable. This way takes 1/4 of the time.
Both these adjustments need to be made when the servo motor is fully open. Like I said, try a search and you'll get 100 results and instructions on how to do it. If you can't find anything, PM me and i'll try and get a description up for you. It's very easy to do.

Change Up,
Thanks for the info. There is about 5 or 6mm of slack in the cables. This sled has 5000 miles on it and the power valves have never been adjusted. (I assume these cables stretch over time and it's probably over-due for an adjustment)
I will check out past posts and go from there.
Will I hurt anything if I drive it the way it is?
Thanks again for the quick response.

Your gonna lose some gas mileage and definately performance..... You should clean and adjust them before you leave for your trip, only takes about an hour to do it all
