I'm sure this question has been asked before, so, I appologize for asking it again.
I would like to convert my 2000 SRX-7 to a long travel skid. In addition to the longer travel shocks, what other mods are necessary? What shocks would you recomend? Longer limiter straps? Changes to the control rods? ( I have bender control rods ).
Any changes to the front end necessary? How much higher is the ride height?
Does the higher C. G. hurt cornering performance noticeably?

Changes
You have to change the shocks, limiter straps and the controll rods. I have the shocks out of a viper that I had revelved and the center shock resprung by Pioneer Performance......cost me $370. Turns out I put an Expert X in the sled and never even rode on them. If you are interested in buying the shocks let me know.

Long travel
I put stock 02 viper shocks, new straps,sxr rods, nothing to the front end. raised mine 3 inches in the back. It made a world of difference in the way mine rides, no more bottoming out alot smoother thru the bumps and still corners great. and still Fast.

I just switched mine over also. But so far i am not impressed with the difference in ride. But i haven`t got it dialed in just right so i`m hoping it gets better with some more adjustments. What straps are you guys using? I went to get viper straps and the dealer said they call for the same part # as the srx already had.

I was told it is the very same limiter strap, with holes in a new location that will accomodate the longer travel shocks. What shocks did you use? Did you
have to modify your transfer rods? I was told you have to relocate the transfer rod mounting hole on the skid, and lengthen the rod, is this true?

Well i`m confused then jerseyjoe. My yamaha dealer told me the viper straps are the same part number as the srx straps. And i was told my straps have other holes to move them to , well they don`t. Right now i have the srx straps in it as loose as i can get them. Maybe thats why i`m not completetly satisfied with the ride.

The Viper straps are longer for sure. I just ordered a set for a
Viper suspension that I am going to install in a friend's SRX next weekend.
I will research the part number and report back to you. I know for a fact that they are about $40.00 for 2 straps. When you install then you need to set them so that there is about 1/2 of thread showing through the upper lock nut. Also the correct control arms are important for the rear. The SRX ones are too short. I used the adjustible Viper ones. Where are you located?

2000 and up srxes had the longer straps. you need to use the other hole.
if you want to widen that sled out, i am plating extensions today to post for sale this weekend. you can make it a 42 or 44 wide

Betheviper...the straps in my sled only have one set of holes on each end. And i bought a new one cause one was ripped..that also only has one set of holes.

i think its the 01 srx that had the longer straps, i am sure the straps are identicle. just sucked up more in the sxr

that makes more sense then cause i sure couldnt find any other holes to move the bolts to...lol
