97 mm 600, smart carbs, and I want to change to std carbs...what do i need and where do I look for carbs. I have has lots of carb trouble...presently poor idle(lopes to 3000 rpm), and poor top end performance. Any ideas. thanks

The Smart carbs can have normal problems that all other carbs have. Other than that, there are a couple sensors that could go bad, and of course the wiring.
I am not sure if you can disconnect the wiring and set your carbs up as normal one. If the smarts are different, all you need to do is find a set off another 600 (97-99).
I never had problems with my 98 but one thing I did find over the years, is gettin info on the smart system is not very easy. Not a lot of people out there that can diagnose.
Try an advanced search on here, and you might find some more info.

thanks flying dutchman: It looks like the 600 xtc uses the standard mikuni's,,,so I will look into that. Your icon at the end of your post says it all. I also have a 98 600, runs great...I think the 97 is jealous. No one knows anything about smart carbs except that when they don't work you are !@#$%^. Thanks again.mct.
