After reading the TY member getting a ticket for loud or altered from stock exhaust, I am rethinking putting on my newly bought P.I end dump tripple pipes for me 97 SX700 tripple , I have to travel 8 hrs to MI to ride & do not want to be a pain in the butt & help cause trail closings! I never thought it was a big deal untill reading all the members talking about "piped sleds on trails" will that be me? Thank you! Dan

I think it is less the piped sled on the trail and more the guy on the piped sled getting on it in populated areas. But some are way overkill loud to begin with. I have only heard a couple sleds on the trail that I thought were way too loud. I have pipes for my viper that are going on it this summer. I don't expect it to be much louder than my VMax with the bored silencer.

It'll most likely be quieter than the board silencer, thats what Xtc Jeff on here said when he went from that to bender pipes.Kysledneck, at the present time I don't think you'll have trouble, there is no noise enforcement to speak of here, that could change , but not now just practice some common sense and you will be ok.I don't think pi pipes are that loud our are they? You should head up here the snow is excellent with lots on the ground

Yea, but PI End Dumps with the stingers are LOUD loud. I had a set and got a 3 into 1 quiet silencer for them and even that 3 into 1 silencer brought me down to Bender/Aaen sound levels. If you're worried about noise, try getting a hold of reddog_mmax700 (i think that's how you spell his name) I sold him the set of PI end dumps I was running and he was trying to sell the 3 into 1 silencer. Not sure if he sold it or if he's keeping now or what but it's worth a try. It's ceramic coated, although the finish is getting a little worn out on it. Still looks nice when installed though!

are pipes allowed in the US.?
I know in Ontario ANY kind of modification to the exhaust is illegal. if they lift the hood and its not stock then you get a ticket.

Supposedely slp's are very quiet with the canister silencer.According to Tom Hartman on his website he says there less than 1 decibel above stock sound levels. It says something like 76.1 stock to 77.0 decibels with slp setup.Has anyone on here run these and how were they all around? I have saw some nice sets of these go cheap on e bay recently.

it is illegal to modify you exhaust so it changes the decibel level, in maine. so i say if the sled is the same as stock with the pipes run em. trust me the long arm of the law listens to sleds as they go by. in a recent trip to east millinocket the man in green was talking to me and as sleds went by he would turn his head as to listen. luckily my srx was at home and i had the nytro. because he tried to give me s**t about having pipes the previous week i guess he didn't realize srx's are stock with them.
