burnt plug

no pic,s

sorry blue but no pic's...i have never seen this before the little peice of rod that goes from the side of the plug over to the middle is burnt off right where you would check the plug gap...

how old are the plugs. thats you're ground that burn't off, whats the color of the remaining parts that will tell alot about how things were running when it came apart. also you need to remember that the little piece of ground is in you're engine somewhere.

plugs

i just got the motor back together and i was taking the head off to get a good look at my piston wash when i seen that the plug was burnt...the plugs look like there burning great ,piston wash seams fine. the color of the plugs are light chocolate i put a multi range vari flow on the sled as well, but the plugs are from last year....i just got back from getting a set of plugs . i will put them in and keep a eye on it and see what happens....reddog

If you are looking to see if your motor is running lean you would have burned a hole in the piston first, before burning the ground strap off of the plug. It is quite possible that the metal fatigued on the strap and the expansion and contraction from the heat helped it "fall" off, by saying fall you have to remember that there is quite abit of controlled violence going on in your cylinders to help propel your snowmobile. How dinged up is the cylinder head and top of the piston? If it is not to excessive you can sand down the peaks of the marks (if there are any) to help eliminate detonation which WILL destroy the components in that cylinder and detonation will also not let the motor make peak horsepower performance. Just my $.02. T

it probably went out the exhaust. detination, heat or lean at some point. you should have perrometers on it with the vari-flow so you know when its to lean.even water in fuel will make it detonate.
