Well i studdd my viper S this weekend after much thought on how to do it the cheapest way , I ended up buying 144 Woodys 1.250 studs and had to shave about an eight of an inch off my track to get a quarter inch of stud to protrude . . They seem to clear the exchangers just fine about 3/4 of an inch on the front exchanger whick i guess is ok . Although I did notice yesterday they are hitting my tunnel when the track is in the air so I definitly need to install tunnel proitectors . Does anyone know the easiest way to install them , do i need to drop the suspension ? Overall a huge differenc in traction Dont know why i waited so long .

Where did u get ur studs if you dont mind me asking...been looking for that length and can't seem to find any online!

I got them at shadetreesnowmobile.com they are like 1.480 overall length and about 1.250 after install in a 1 inch track . awsome price too . Only $112 for 144 studs and nuts Woodys Signature series model .

All vipers came with tunnel protectors.

Sorry, but thats not true. ViperS did not come with tunnel OR front heat exchanger protectors due to the 1.25 track. I had to remove both on my 02 with run my 1.25in. Predator(Non Studded) so there was no cases of rubbering.

You also have to remember when you hit the brakes any slack in the track pushes forward, towards the front exchanger. I would suggest buying front protector also, unless you like the risk. I personally wouldnt, cause I dont like being towed home with a possibly burnt up motor.

yup he's right the viper s doesn't have protectors, gotta put them in yourself. To put mine in i just took of the seat and removed the gas tank and riveted them in from the top. i used really long rivets and put a washer on the bottom of the it before pulling on the rivet with the gun. That way the expanded portion of the rivet grabs the washer instead of the plastic tunnel protectors so that they dont fall off over time. Worked very well.
